¨For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.¨ -ISAIAH 9:6
If we had to spend Christmas somewhere during this trip, Buenos Aires would be a great choice! Other than the weather being complete opposite from what we`re used to this time of year (it was about 90 degrees on Christmas day) and the apparent lack of city-wide Christmas spirit (there are definitely not as many public decorations as back home) we were blessed to be in a city with great restaurants, parks, plazas, and nice people.
After a few outwardly emotional moments from one of us at the thought of being away from home for the holidays (can you guess who that might be??) "WE" decided to splurge and put ourselves in a nice hotel for two nights which was a welcome respite to the series of hostels and dormitories we`d been staying in recently. From our great room we watched the Seahawks game on TV on Christmas Eve and missed our home even more. Unfortunately the game was dubbed over in Spanish, but we figured most of it out as we watched along.
Christmas morning we had a great visit to a local church where we also met many foreigners from the States. Interestingly enough, of the ex-pats we met that live here one of them was the CEO of a large Oil and Gas company in South America and another, who also graciously gave us a ride home, works at the US Embassy here. It definitely provided for some interesting Christmas morning conversation.
It ended up being an amazing holiday, capped off with our Christmas present to ourselves, which was a visit to the Hilton to take part in one of the best buffet spreads we could have asked for. Definitely take a look at the dessert table in the pictures attached.
We missed our families greatly on Christmas and it was hard to only get to speak to them over the phones. Christmas away from home just isn´t the same as being with everyone face to face.
We give thanks to our savior, Jesus Christ, for coming to earth and giving us the true reason we celebrate this day.
