Mykonos was our next island destination, and though it was pretty the prices almost killed us. We knew as we strolled past restaurants along the waterfront that when a glass of juice at the restaurant goes for over $10 that itīs a bad sign. Nevertheless, we found ourselves a pension in the basement of a tiny place for backpacker prices so we were quite proud of ourselves. We just couldnīt afford anything else on the island other than the usual gyro sandwiches.
The island itself is rather pretty, but nothing in comparison to Santorini. There are 5 windmills right next to port that greet you as you come into the island, and they are frequeted on the postcards in Greece. Other than that, we didnīt do a whole lot other than walk around "little Venice" with the tiny streets filled with ritzy jewelry and gyro shops. It was low season so it was very quiet on the island, so it made for a relaxing couple days.
