Santorini--the place I (Amy) have always wanted to visit. I used to have a little calendar at my desk at work which I daydreamed with photos of Santorini. My plans to visit finally came true and I loved it!

We spent 5 days zipping around this little Greek Island on our moped and enjoyed a cheap apartment condo we rented near Kamara Beach. Our condo and moped together came to a cheaper cost than getting dorm beds, so we were pumped! The condo was around half the size of our apartment in San Francisco and we felt like we were in a huge house. Life on the road in tiny shared dorm rooms was starting to wear on us. Having a kitchen to cook simple things in addition to having our own bathroom we didnīt have to share with fellow travelers (I know, can you imagine!) were luxuries!

We visited Fira, the bustling hillside town that the cruise ships come into port at Backyard in Oia on the Cliffs

. We saw more Americans in Greece than anywhere else on our trip, guess it is the place to visit as traveling in this world post 9/11.

We ventured out to Ancient Thira up this steep mountain. It was inhabited from 900-1200 BC, quite an old place.

Our favorite town was Oia on the northern tip of the island. It is the town with all the classic blue domed roofs and churches you see on all the calendars. We couldnīt afford any of the restaurants in town, so we lived off a lunch and dinner diet of Gyros. They are great, but after 2 weeks in Greece of almost all meals consisting of them I got pretty sick of them.

Santorini--a dream come true!
