We visited the ancient sights of Luxor on the edge of the Nile. The Luxor Temple was amazing, but difficult to stay long at in 108 degree temps. It was built by the Pharaoh Amenophis III around 1390 BC and added on by Tutankamun, Ramses II, Alexander the Great and the Arabs. It is huge and impressive with amazing hieroglyphics. Later that night we caught the Karnak Temple Sound and Light show which was also incredible.
During our visit in Luxor we celebrated Matt's 30th birthday and Emily's 31st birthday which were back to back days. Over the two days we visited the Valley of the Tombs which were tombs where the pharoahs were buried in such a way as to ensure their safe travel into the afterlife. We also saw Hatshepsuts Temple and the Valley of the Queens. Lots of sights and all were impressive. To celebrate the two birthdays we had an amazing birthday dinner at a 5 star Al-Moudira restaurant, but cheap in comparison to the states.
