Today we went to Cristo Rendentor(Christ the Redeemer), the big Jesus statue.  We walked to the cog train which takes us straight to the statue, had to walk around the local houses, and down a huge set of stairs as well, and yes we had to walk back up them.  The train up to Cristo Redentor goes up a very steep incline with some amazing views over Rio, once we were up the top a few more sets of stairs and we were there.  The statue is absolutely huge, after seeing it from the hostel it didn't seem that big, up close its massive.  Apart from all the tourists its a must see, and the views over Rio are spectacular, you can see everything that Rio has to offer.

After Cristo Redentor we caught a bus to Copacabana Beach and walked the whole lenght, great beach and lots of locals in bikinis ;).  We had lunch at a beach side booth, and a couple of beers and made our way to Forte de Copacabana which is an old fort that is still in use by the Army today, had a walk around the museum taking pictures, before we realized it isn't open yet and your not allowed to take pictures, not a great idea when your on an army base and everyone has guns.

From here we had a walk down Ipanema Beach which is next to Copacabana Beach and pretty much the same.  After 20 minutes jet lag kicked in and we decided to make our way back to the hostel.  After an hour we finally figured out what bus we had to take and caught it.  Then remember those stairs we had to make out way back up them suffering from jet lag, not fun.  Finally back at the hostel, dinner, a few drinks and then day 2 done and dusted.
