Since then, Rob has moved on to catch up with the others leaving me to the delights of Hanoi on my own. Meeting new people had proven to be a lot easier when alone and I soon had a German room mate, who speaks near on perfect English - highly safe! I went to visit the Perfume Pagoda yesterday, right in the middle of the national pilgrimage to it so i and 3 Germans were engulfed amongst several thousand Vietnamese Buddhists. The day was fairly uneventful and definately an anti-climax but today I took a trip to a place called Hoa Luc, the ancient capital of Vietnam followed by a 2 hour rowing boat trip in Tam Coc amongst and through the stunning scenery of cliffs and karsts. The weather had been stupidly hot yesterday and I had anticipated the same for today but I couldnt have been more wrong!! It was freezing (about 7*) and by the time we reached Hanoi again, the Heavens had opened and we were caught in a thunderstorm - the 1st rain since leaving England 4 weeks ago!!
Hopefully I will be able to pick my new passport up tomorrow morning and get out of here tomorrow night - although i'm now getting free accommodation as i've been here so long!!!
