The next day was a lazy day recovering in bed. In the meantime, Dave and Mel went off to explore the nearby caves. By the time we met up again we were all exhausted but since we'd decided to catch the 6am bus to Vientiane, Dave and I stayed up - once again at the Island Bar, nursing 1 beer all night, the idea was to stop up and sleep on the bus but we had to concede earlier than expected for a power nap of about an hour.
The journey south only took about 3 hours and was fairly comfortable for a change and we arrived in plenty of time to see all that Vientiane had to offer - which wasnt much! I needed some passport photos for my Vietnamese visa but the ones that came made me look like Avid Merrion - too late to do anything about it these would have to do!
The next day we sought out the Arc de Triumph - a poor man's version of that found in Paris, quite literally, the decorations are only half completed - and a Wat (temple) which was fairly impressive.
