Happy Birthday to my uber sexy Boy!

We kicked off our first payday weekend with a trip to Masan to view the spectacle that is Korean Walmart. We wanted to see if they had all the luxuries of home and, though it did have salami (of sorts, more like balogna) and Heinz 57 sauce for the birthday boy, it was very disappointing.

For his birthday I bought Matt an awesome Korean BBQ because what is a man really without a place to grill meat! Now we can enjoy lettuce rolled BBQ from home, and have had two BBQs for two so far- awesome! We use mostly Korean traditional fare, and added a few tweaks of our own like using gochujung-(hot red pepper paste) soaked chicken breast, grilling the garlic right on there and throwing in some peppers too! We did also try to find much leaner meat as much of the pork BBQ is mostly fat; it truly is worse then bacon and three times as thick at least Giant Walmart 1

! We found out later all the oil was to cook everything on the grill but we made do without all that grease some how... Umm Umm good- YUMMY!

To celebrate Matty's big 2-6 (in Canada of course he is really only 25 but I think 26 is much hotter don't you ;-) ) our new friend Jenny cooked us some beef bulgogi and birthday seaweed soup! She even bought Matt some beer to make him feel right at home! Two of her students helped her cook the meal and we all celebrated Korean style where they sing to you with your cake, first in English then Korean, when you first arrive at the door. The candles are chosen for certain kinds of luck, or well wishes according to your age and when it's over you let off little exploding cases of streamers! What a **blast!

Later it was off to Melon No Rae Bang for some neon Karaoke! The place looked like a mix between bad 80s neon and a little girls slumber party all bright and cutsie with lots of pillows! Wicked fun! Matt, of course, serenaded us with ballads to show off his pipes while I sang more ridicules numbers such as "go'n to the chapel" and "Hey Ya!" Always an ideal place for acting the fool and enjoying being a little rowdy!

We topped it all off with cheap late night cinema at Lotte cinema where we saw 'Brokeback Mountain' with Korean subtitles. No it wasn't Matt's choice but there was little else to see, and with three girls he was definitely outnumbered! Yah you heard me it IS playing in Korea, doesn't that blow your mind?

So it wasn't home but it was still a great time, this place is starting to feel like we belong more everyday!

Happy Birthday Baby, you rock!

Happy Birthday Matt!
Dude, sounds like a fun time with all the cooking and singing. Some gay cowboys add that little twist too.
Keep rockin' it you two.
