Angela arrived safely a couple of days ago. Which was good. And has thus far pronounced herself pleased with Rio De Janiero. "Better than Colliers Wood", even. Which is surely going too far - as we all know, Colliers Wood is paradise on earth, believed by many scholars to be the location of the biblical Garden of Eden, was known as El Dorado by the Spanish, and was the inspiration for several fictional utopias, such as the one devised by Thomas More, the name of which currently escapes me. However Rio does have certain elements which are lacking in Colliers Wood, and, because of this, I have devised the following plan. Sand shall be added to the banks of the River Wandle, to create beaches, and palm trees planted around the Savacentre. And, as a centrepiece, in the middle of Wandle Park, a large hill will be constructed on top of which will stand a 100m statue of Puskas, on her hind legs, front legs outstretched in front of her, paws open, bestowing her blessing on all the denziens of Merton. Also, Bedford Hill, in Balham will be demolished and rebuilt as a favela. That should settle the matter once and for all.
Nonetheless, Rio is spectacular. We went up Sugar Loaf. Two cable cars. Initially to Morro Da Urca, then to the top of the big hill itself. And there was a cat on Morro De Urca. Pictures available when I can next transfer them, cat fans.
Also, a trip up Corcovada, where we saw a statue that would have been more impressive had it been of a ginger cat.
And then a trip round Itacurussa Bay, just south of Rio. Swimming in the Atlantic. Lazing on tropical islands.
And, of course, Copacabana Beach. What more could anyone ask for?
Iguazu, next.

I lolled. Well done.

Sugar Loaf sounds a bit like the Heights of Abraham. I expect it's not as good, though. I didn't see any cats up there, but I did get an ice cream, which is a close second.
