Right. Back in Quito, on route to Peru (flight to Cusco. V expensive. But the same price as the flight to Lima, for some reason. This, will, then, probably be the last Ecuadorian entry. Shame. Unless something really interesting happens before then. Or I feel like doing another one in the next two days. Possibly Monday, when I haven't got time to do anything else before the flight
A moderately interesting bus ride, with the entertainment coming from the Van Damme film being shown, and the driver, who was driving at high speed along winding roads with a large drop at the side. Fun, fun, fun. He was then detained by the police in Ambato, with some comments (I couldn't follow the whole conversation) about not having a licence. Possibly. It was in Spanish, and I missed much of it.
Other than that, I feel compelled to add a bit more detail to the Baños blog. Because Baños is a fantastic place. And I didn't mention the thermal baths. I was reminded this morning that I was going to write about them when I went for a steam bath at the hostel (I'd been meaning to all week, but put it off until my last morning), and was told that they weren't doing them today - the chap who runs them, and makes sure people don't die in them, wasn't there. Bugger. But I did visit the thermal baths. Which were very pleasant. When not filled with screaming children. Although, I have to say, not as good as the Széchenyi Baths, in Budapest. Probably the finest thermal baths in the world. These, however, had splendid views of the mountains surrrounding Baños. Which, obviously, wouldn't be available in Hungary. It being a fair distance from the Andes.
Anyway, Quito. I'd forgotten how polluted it is - after three weeks away, it's been making my nose burn. But I'm only here until Monday. And then Peru. Onwards. As it were.
