Where I stayed
After a few stints we finally reached the museum, at which point I remembered where weīd heard the name Puerto Borias before. It was mentioned by our tour guide on the way to Torres del Paine. P.B was the site of the original sheep processing plant that gave rise to the town of Puerto Natales. So, Kat and I enjoyed a 1 hour audio tour of the slaughter rooms and freezing plants! Needless to say, Kat is going veggy again for a while :)
Kat: Everytime I stopped and all the time I was battling against gale force winds Matt would say 'Think of the sense of acheivement when you get thereī but as it turned out when I got there all I was thinking about was the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of sheep!! As Matt puts it īThe silence of the lambsī!
Once back in P.N. we collected our bags and walked, now soaking with the seasonal rain, to check in our bags. Upon turning the corner onto the lakeside we were pleasantly surprised to see a large cruise liner loom into view. Kat was excited and commented that perhaps there would be a casino and cinema on board. I suggested possibly a heated outdoor pool. Unfortunately our eyes then gazed further downstream where a more likely suspect had just docked...
