Where I stayed
We stay at a secluded beach hut, framed by coconut palms and over-looking a coral beach, teaming with pretty fish. It sounds like paradise, and it was to some extent. But it's a kilometre’s walk to any civilization, even though the walk is through some pretty forest, it’s up and down and the weather is sticky hot. It’s a nightmare with backpacks on. We both really liked the main hub of Kho Tao, Sairee beach, it had a good vibe to it. We do some diving here at the Japanese gardens and White rock dive sites. The coral’s pretty and we see a sea snake, puffer fish and trigger fish, and quite a lot of small fish in general. The diving company is not professional though and seems to be geared at full moon party revellers. When your dive guide jumps in before you have even checked and put your gear on and shouts to the rest of the dive masters and instructors 'last one up gets the beer in’ it doesn’t fill you with confidence.
