April 23rd  -  It's not the greatest of fun taking your backpacks on to the packed MTR (the Hong Kong) underground. Sarah managed to bruise her arm and I almost took out a small chinese kid. We have moved residence to Hong Kong island. We're staying in the North point area which is quite similar to Kowloon, lots of dingy high-rise buildings, local markets selling chicken feet and live fish, and cheap places to eat. We venture to Man Mo temple near central in the afternoon. We weren't overly impressed. Then we head to SoHo and Land Kwoi Fang, which is a very ex-pat based area. It is packed with some great bars. It is almost like a condensed part of London. Unfortunately the prices are similar to London so we stay for a single beer that goes straight to my head (must be the heat!)

April 24th - Sundays are for lazing about so we did - on Stanley beach on the other side of Hong Kong island. A balmy 27 degrees C and my T shirt sun tan is coming on a treat. The South china sea was very inviting but we didn't bring our bathers so had to do with a paddle instead. Stanley market I would say is very much like the other markets but slightly bigger - we didn't buy anything. We came on the bus back as the sun was setting.

April 25th - Caught a 2 and a half hour flight from HK to Kunming following a lie in. Found a cracking hostel (cloudlands) to stay the night.
