We made it to Córdoba!   We have our own piso (which directly translates to floor), our own refridgerator, bathroom, washer, sofa, bed... I could go on.  We were so thankful to find our own place after a week of sleeping on a friend's floor.  Finding an apartment was not as easy as we had anticipated but we were fortunate enought to find a sign downtown that pointed us in the right direction.  We are renting from 2 middle-aged women who are extremely friendly and understanding.  They allowed us to stay in the apartment for a few days before paying the deposit and first month's rent.  We did not have access to cash for the first few days here.

Our first week here was very stressful, but day by day things are starting to settle down.  We found a gym near our house, our schools are fairly close, and we have several friends in our neighborhood.  We only get paid to work 12 hours a week in the schools but we put in much more time.   Our official title is Language and Culture Assistant... it may sound professional but is far from it.  The schools are so unorganized that we are free to do whatever we want.  It has been difficult to write our own cirriculum from scratch but the experience has been great.  Creativity is key!

Cňrdoba is a beautiful city.  Denise is especially fond of the palm trees and fruit trees.  The weather has been great so far, 70 -85 degrees, but it should be cooling off soon.  We would like to send out an open invitation to anyone who wants to come visit Spain.  We have an extra bedroom and would love to show you around.  We are willing to travel every weekdend as well because we only work 4 days a week!!

We are looking forward to the next few weeks as we should start to feel more comfortable with our new city, schools, co-workers, and friends.
