Writing: Hotel room, 3pm, steaming music off the hotel laptop!

This morning i felt a bit more alive and ready for walking. It was 31 degrees so it was definately a shorts and sandals day. With our rough guide book in hand we headed for the cathedral, La Giralda, in the old city.

It was massive, covering 11,520 sq metres, our pictures do not do it justice. It is the largest gothic church in the world. As we strolled to the Alcazar we were attacked by fortune tellers. One woman grabbed by arm and started babbling in spanish and trying to put leaves in my hand. As I tried to walk away she demanded money, pointing to coins in her hand. I walked swiftly away at the first chance that I got.

Behind Alcazar, which is a large palace, there is a maze of traditional, narrow streets and gardens with fountains. It was tranquil and well worth a visit (The Santa Cruz District).

We stopped at a street cafe for a baguette and coke, 8 euros total, then I successfully ordered 2 strawberry ice creams in Spanish, i'm on a roll!

We caught the Sevilla tour sight seeing bus costing 16 euros each. It took us out of the old city and west of the river. The apartment blocks and highways in the Triana distict, conjured feelings of Mexico more than Spain. There were almost too much to take pictures of but worth a trip to soak up the atmosphere and to learn about Seville's history, such as Flemanco dancing being invented here by the large gypsy and Jewish settlers. Also, watch for tree branches and sudden braking, the Spanish drivers are crazy!

Going out to samply the local Sangria and tapas, if the feeling returns to the bottom of my blistered feet, then packing ready for tomorrows trial and error journey to Granada. Making our Spanish debut on the Spanish rail system!

Writing: Hotel room, 11.49pm.

What a failure! No sangria and third burger of the trip. We walked for what seemed like (and was) hours in the rain and failed to find a inexpensive place to eat. After getting lost in the winding streets for the one-millienth time we settled on a McDonalds and ate it in the hotel room. If i return to Seville in the future i'll pack the cheque book (at around 20 euros for a main meal each).

State of my feet report: Ow!

Mashes back report: In half!

We are looking forward to Granada as want to move to a more accessible place.
