We began the day early with a trip to the end of the road to enter the Kalalau Trail at Ke'e Beach. The kids stayed behind to swim while Bob and I made the hike. The Kalalau Trail is an 11 mile hike the hugs the Napali Coast of Kauai. We were hoping to make the 2 mile hike and back in 1 1/2 hours, but ran out of time. The trail was very steep, going over rocks, tree roots and muddy earth, but show wonderful vistas of the Coast. We had to be back to the beach at 10:30 so that we could make the 50 minute drive back to the house in time for everyone to leave for the scuba trip.

The scuba trip had originally been schedule for Monday, the day Flossie was to arrive. The tour operator postponed it to Thursday, and then again until this afternoon all because the swells were so high and strong. The remnants of Flossie have produced beach closings in the south shore, due to conditions resulting in strong ride tides. So they left to travel the 40 minutes to scuba trip and were called on the road that they were again, not running the trip. Megan was very disappointed, as it was her hope to dive again, but also she had arranged the trip and the operator keep putting her off again and again. They returned to the house, disappointed.

I spent some time at the beach across the street from our house this afternoon. There is an easement between two houses where you access the beach. So its a 20 second trek between the two houses to get to Aliamonu Beach. We had dinner at the house and went out for ice cream at our usual place, Kauai's own Lappert's ice cream.

I have included some photos of the house. It is very pretty, full of Asian antiques, as the house had an Asian design to it. The house is large, larger than we need, even echos! Top of the line appliances that seem to be based more on design than function, which I would say is the mantra for the house!

Tomorrow is our final day here in Kauai. We will probably go to two different beaches before getting ready for our return to home, work and Lily.
