Right On, Right On
Woke up early, intent on doing our hike to the Napli Coast, but found a text from Pit saying Dad received the great news of all clear!  I called them, and while speaking with Dad, had to get off because the Kauai Civil Defense was calling about Tropical Storm Flossie.  They said it was on its way with lots of rain and wind. So we scrapped our hike plans and headed to Kapaa and the supermarket to stock up on water, flash lights, and cash!  We hung around the house checking on the weather, rain in and out.  We decided we needed a game or two in case we were stuck indoors for awhile, headed to Princeville and Hanalei for retail adventures.  It rained on and off, hard and spitting most of the day.  Incredible to see a strong rain come thru followed by sun 20 minutes later.  After smoothies, we returned home for lunch and then some of the family went to the beach by our house - across the street.  It was sunny and warm, and the sea was not too rough, surprisingly so.  The pre-storm afternoon so was so intense I fell asleep on the beach in the sun!
We had cocktails (Meg made a homemade tropical cocktail) and cheese and crackers at the house, before burgers from Duane's Ono Burgers up the road.  We have had Duane's during several of our visits and even Mike recommended him!  After dinner, we took a walk thru the neighborhood and back on to the beach.  Then it was game time with Balderdash and Charades, which was very fun!
We consider this a very lucky day.  Flossie has lessened and hopefully will not have too much bearing on our trip (note this is Monday night, and nothing has happened yet.  Hope that is the same for the rest of the night).  And we read there was an earthquake today on Oahu, which we did not feel. Crazy tropical storm and earthquake in the same day.  As I end this entry, listening to beautiful Hawaiian music on the CD player, I feel luckiest knowing about Dad and how grateful I am with his results.  I was happy to speak with them this morning, 7000 miles away,  but am mindful of how I wish I was closer.  Congrats to Dad, and to Mom, how proud I am of you, Mom, for being so strong!!!

Oh, and the title of today's post - the Hawaiian game store owner was recommending games, and each time I said something, he added "right on, right on".  Love that motto!  Hope you enjoy the photos!
