Bob - we were escorted to the airport by the children and received our tickets without complications. Security took about 45 minutes; nobody famous except us. The flight was uneventful with the exception of endless wine, a near medical situation across the cabin, and the passenger behind Maryellen having difficulties with Maryellen reclining her seat (Maryellen might elaborate on this as it was upsetting to the woman).
We landed in the country of my birth and were warmly greeted by the security officer at the passport counter, I think she remembered me.
Maryellen - "The young lady on Lufthansa behind me was seated before we sat - so we think she needed "extra help". I did not see her, only heard her. After several hours, I reclined my seat to sleep, and she huffed and puffed in German and distress. She kept hitting my seat back. Later, she needed oxygen, and unfortunately needed help moving her seat, i guess to get closer to the oxygen. The flight attendant(s) assisted her, I think it took 3 of them, out of her seat. She returned just in time for her breakfast. What a coincidence!!! All 300+ lbs, with the extended lap belt, returned!! All in all, we liked Lufthansa. Who knew they served free wine on the flights!
Another observation - while waiting in Munich for the connecting flight, at 10am, the cafe is FULL with patrons drinking beer!"

Florence - A beautiful town with beautiful buildings.  Our hotel is really more than we could have h0ped for - someone deserves credit (AND a gift for that pick) as it overlooks the river on one side and the Duomo on the other!   By the way, we need our taxi driver on the Amazing Race!  Had a great day touring many places  to include seeing the David.  Dinner capped off a most romantic day with cocktails on the terrace with the Duomo of Florence bathed in the early evening light and dinner al fresco. Tomorrow, we have tickets to see the Uffizi with all the artwork, and tickets to gelati all day long!

I apologize for my kind of disrespectful comment last night Truth is, i spent most of yesterday in the hospital getting IV antibiotics for pneumonia. Getting better.
The pictures are beautiful, Maryellen, and Florence looks so wonderful. Wish we could be there with you.
