We are on the ship named Spirit of Tasmania. We had a little glitch again due to the mechanical problem of this ship and left at 8:30 pm (4 hours later). This ship is almost like the one we had taken from Brindisi, Italy, to Greece. It has 11 decks and we are on the 8th deck cabin. I'm writing this in the reading room on 7th floor that has dining room, shop, cinemaroom, café and bar. Some students are trying to catch up on their reading of their text books and writing messages in this room.

When we left the Sydney harbour, we went all the way up on the 11th deck to see the beautiful view of Sydney, the ship went under the Sydney harbour that was lit with lights and also the beautiful opera house that was also lit at night. It was the most gorgeous and memorable view so far. The ship has been sailing smoothly and we had delicious supper of mostly Italian food. I loved all sort of spring greens with anchovies they served. We also had all kinds of cheese with crackers.I had 8 huge Tasmanian oysters on half shells, baked salmon, and duck-all delicious. I showed a few students how to play Shanghai, but most students had taken Dramamine, so they were getting sleepy and we went to bed. Marvin was already sound to sleep with his usual snoring when I went to my cabin. We slept soundly as the ship rock back and forth gently as if we were on a cradle. I didn't get up until 9 am. After taking a shower we went to the dining room to eat brunch. Only several students were up eating brunch, all boys. They served delicious yogurt, 3 different kinds of cereal, quiche, muffins, fruits, all kinds of breakfast rolls. Tanya, they also served rhubarb. We have been eating so well and so much.

As far as I can see from this reading room window, the huge ocean surrounds us, no islands in sight yet. We had a bingo game just a while ago. It was done by giving us information on Tasmanian animals. It was a very good and educational game. We will have a movie on Tasmania shortly. Since we left later than scheduled, we will not arrive at Davenport, northern part of Tasmania until late tonight, so they are going to allow us to spend one more night on this ship after it docks.

I'm sure I keep telling you that we are having a great trip and experience. It is hard that we are really here to see and experience all. Pam Little is doing a fantastic job for us to make sure we have the best time, the best place to stay, the best food to eat, the best experience, the best driver, the best coach, and so forth.

Before we got on the ship, it was getting pretty chilly at the Sydney Harbor I had a T-shirt, corduroy shirt, windbreaker, and jacket on. It will be around 50 degrees in Tasmania, I hear. Some students didn't bring any jackets, so they purchased cheap jackets in Sydney. Most guys still wear only T-shirts and a pair of sandals or flip-flops. I see some islands now. We saw the top of the mountains afar from Canberra yesterday that had snow. It has been nice to have a relaxed time today. I think students are enjoying themselves not to be on the go for a change.

We are anxious to know if our 7th grandchild is a girl or boy and also that Angie had a safe and easy delivery. We found the internet access near the harbour yesterday afternoon and had a short time to read the messages. We only had enough time to read messages from our children. We are glad to know that the baby is in its right place, Wilson and Tanya arrived at Munich safely, Jill had an amazing birthday without us, and Andrea reporting to us that Seiko and Hiro had a great time in Uganda.
