I had the great privilege of attending mass and taking communion at the Mother Teresa Hospice in Calcutta.  It was very poignant to be in the same room with probably 120 men, all dressed in comfortable and matching bed cloths, lying in various stages of dying as the mass and communion went on.  After the service I had a brief tour and saw the women's secition with a similar number of women who are dying.  One could not help but observe the wonderful group of Sisters and a large group of volunteers from all over the world who were all there to provide the best possibly quality of life for those who are dying.  Being as some of my most fulfilling experiences in life have been coming along side those who are dying as a Hospice Patient Care volunteer - this was particularly meaningful to me.  I also thought of Lynn Twist who wrote "The Soul of Money" and is a very extraordinary women spent some time as a volunteer in this same Hospice.  It no doubt played a major role in her become the person that she is.  If you are wanting a deep and meaningful perspective on money - get her book.

The Hospice is located right near a well known Hindu Shrine.  Mother Teresa chose that location because she knew that this was the place that many Indians wanted to go to and be near at the time of her death.

From there I went on a 20 minute taxi ride to the Motherhouse where Mother Teresa had lived and there is a museum of Mother Teresa's sayings and works.  The pictures show her room at the Motherhouse.  I donated some money to this work that Maryellen Kelley had given to me to give away as I chose.

Near the Motherhouse is the Orphanage - which was closed, but I shot pictures of the outside.

All this was a never to be forgotten experience.
