Excellent nights sleep and we awoke to clouds lying in the hills surrounding Silverton. MJ took a walk and many pictures. We found a reasonable place for breakfast and then just kinda mooched around in town, had a chat with the lady who sells the tickets for the train plus spoke with people in the shops.

The sun warmed the place up and a beer beckoned at the Grand Imperial where we were served once again by the owners wife Kirsty (found out she got married last November from the receptionist - on a boat in Mexico ). The lovely Lacey Black played the piano for us and we had the view of the mountain out the front window. The whole atmosphere in the Grand Imperial bar is excellent.

MJ had been advised by Huck to try a funnel cake and we found the place on Greene Street where for $5 we got donut batter dripped into frying fat to make a huge calorie-soaked mega donut of which only half got eaten Clouds in Silverton

We caught the 2pm train out of Silverton in overcast skies and had an excellent journey down in the company of many elderly couples. There was a free seat across from us - so we managed to move over to get the best side on the way back as well.

Some chap from Billings had spoken to us a few times on the journey and as we got up to leave he gave us a New Testament with his name and address in it and told us to contact him next time we were up that way. Who knows....maybe?

The car was still there when we got back and we drove back down 550 to the first independent we found called Adobe Inn where for some unknown reason we got a mega-room for $69. However this was slightly tempered by the fact that a small milk carton had split on the journey in MJ's bum-bag and we now have black dye on the passports and some $20 notes - not too bad.

We attempted to resolve that and read a few emails before heading back into town for an excellent meal ruined by poor service - but did find that Durango is quite a kicking place on a Friday night.
