We then decided to head back to the river and soon came across one of the baseball games that was going on as part of a local kids competition. We saw a game between the "Hard Knocks" and another team and found it very entertaining >> standing leaning on the fence in the sun with the backdrop of the pine-clad mountains. It was interesting to note that all the cars in the car-park were with SUVs or Pickups - no saloons.
About 2pm we headed back to the bar from yesterday and ordered what turned out to be an excellent shrimp and an oyster sandwich plus beers
He was a very nice chap and gave us his card - we said we'd keep in contact, but time was pressing and we had a date at the KOA campground 40 miles west in Craig. We arrived to find a highway RV-park where our tent site seemed to double up as hard-standing for yet more RVs as it was very stony - we decided to gamble it and didn't bother with the flysheet pegs. The wash facilities were rather poor with US-bar type swing doors on the showers which were right next to the toilets
After a quick dip in the pool we headed off into Saturday night downtown kicking Craig - NOT. It was dead and only seemed to have a few rather poor restaurants. We found an Italian and got ok food with rather disinterested service. Not a town we will be rushing back to in future visits.
A rather poor nights sleep - tenting is absolutely not to Munchie's liking.
