Headed north up I-15 towards St George - passed thru the Las Vegas desert valley and then a scenic climb upwards to meet St George. We didn't stop but pressed on towards Cedar City - this piece of the interstate is very beautiful with scrub land on the left and the pine-clad hills/mountains on the right.
As we approached Cedar City the sky darkened and it began to rain with the associated nose-dive in temperature. We parked outside the soda-fountain shop and dashed in ordering two sundaes and a weird tasting lime soda. Munchy reckoned it tasted of toilet cleaner and actually it did!
We carried on up I-15 which is a great road - seems to have this mountain range all along it. The journey today was circa 300 miles and we've done just over 10,000 miles so far on the trip. The KOA at Fillmore is very nice with mature trees and the tents/cabins away from the RV's. The scenery is pine hills to the back of the camp and a scrub desert all around. There are free-ranging cattle in the "field" next to our cabin.
We unpacked and spent some time round the pool where were met and English guy and his American wife who live in Southern California. Until recently they only had two weeks holiday a year and spent that returning to UK. They had been up to Yellowstone and were returning down I-15 south-bound. This is the first trip he's ever had of America having been here 10 years!!!
The evening proved something of a disaster as we found out that Fillmore, whilst initially planned to be the capital city of a proposed state of Deseret, is kinda a small place. We ate at a "steakhouse" altho' we avoided to steak and it wasn't exactly a fine dining experience....coupled with no liquor licence....nuff said.
The nights' sleep was poor but we did get another look at the stars.
