Here is the URL of our Yellowstone Bear video on Youtube.

Boy, are we bored....this place has absolutely nothing to do in it...and that's confirmed by two locals.

We set of into town to see what we could see....and returned immediately - our views fully in congruence with the locals.

We did go out again later to the nearby dam. They have loads of dams along the Columbia and its tributaries. What was interesting was the visitors centre which focused on supporting the salmon population. The salmon has a weird lifecycle which has them hatching high up the Snake, gaining some weight and then kinda all deciding to swim to the sea for a few years to grow up. During the swim to the sea they alter physically and chemically to be able to survive in sea water. Then, after a few years, once they are adults they swim back up river to spawn. Once the fertilized eggs are buried at the bottom of the river then all the adults die. Huh?

How the hell did that evolve?

Anyway sticking a load of dams in the way of all this didn't do it for the salmon - but fortunately the Yanks spotted this and built in both fish ladders - for swimming up-river and then this amazing set of large pipes and separation tanks to get the young back to the sea.. inasmuch as a trip through the turbines is not good for the health of a salmon. On quite a lot of the dams they actually capture them and then ship them down river on barges!!!

After a swim in the pool back at the hotel we went to see Ocean's Thirteen - which is absolute rubbish. Same old problem of an incomprehensible script and too many stars all after their 10 minutes. Looked like 20 different script-writers had been put in separate rooms, given a sketchy plot based on TV Mission Impossible and then the producer had cobbled it all together. Notable nonsense was getting one of the Chunnel borers and drilling a tunnel under Las Vegas all under the control of one guy 24 hours and seemingly without any TV publicity. It then completely lost it when this borer broke and they replaced it with the "one that drilled from the French side". Now from what I remember this is the one and only one as the English one is buried below the Chunnel - the French one proceeding to the English side. So how they got the first one I have no idea.

Anyway don't bother going to see it - unless you are Marina/Looby in which case you'll gaze lovingly at George and won't even notice the non-existent/crap plot.

Back at the hotel we watched Shrek and then did Denny's again.

Bored bear, too
Your bear looks pretty bored, too. Clearly heading off to the Yellowstone equivalent of Denny's.
Lovely footage, though - especially that final yawn as it heads away.

It must be said that your location does look very uninspiring, zooming in on the Google satellite map. It's all grey buildings and empty roads. Go somewhere else and post some more interesting messages quick!
