Saw two colonial mansions this morning and a mound at Natchez. The mansions were more exciting, but the Indian settlement was our first visit early in the morning when it was beautifully quiet and peaceful. It was kinda wierd to think that Indians were walking on that ground back in the 1700s with the French just over the way next to the Mississipi.

The place has a gambling casino on an old paddle-steamer because it is only legal on the river. In the old days they used to sail up and down the Mississipi, now the associated hotel is in the town and they "ferry" you down to the boat on mini-buses. What was amazing was that people were in there gambling at 10.30am.

We then proceeded up route 63 along an empty dual carriageway to Vicksburg, staying in a very nice Best Western. We sat on a wooden deck for a while in the sun which was nice, then MJ used the indoor pool.

The evening meal was a Mexican which we found by chance while trying to find another mexican we'd been told about!! MJ had a T-bone steak which was fantastic, but the best bit was Chrissie's margarita. We told the server that we judged Mexican restuarants by their margaritas when he turned up with it. We tried it and it was all mix and no tequila. Anyway he comes back once Chris had finished it and said how was it and do you want another? We said it was a little tame and he said he'd put two extra shots in it.....well it wasn't stirred when it arrived and Chris drank some out the straw from the bottom of the glass, MJ always likes to drink it from the side to get the salt. WOW!! I reckon I got one of the tequila shots neat in that one slurp. So we stirred it up and got a great tequila. When the bill came he'd charged us $6 for each margarita, so nothing extra for the zipped up one. Great service and he got a nice tip on top of the $40 bill i.e. a tenner each. Complete steal.

And so to bed....or in Chrissie's case to coma.
