Enjoyed Cairns. There's not much in the city itself, it's a starting point for all the tours. It does have a pleasant walk way that's been constructed along the sea front and impressive mountains all around. Also had some excellent meals (that's so my mum doesn't worry!).

On the flight down to Melbourne had just got my dinner when the plane started shaking. So I quickly reached for my wine and took a gulp. The wine was now safe from being spilt so I put my seatbelt on as the light had come on.

Melbourne comes as quite a shock after Cairns. Lot's of people, heavy traffic and cold - well it seems cold after Cairns. Yesterday was the first day since getting here that I've felt warm.

Been down the great ocean road. Saw the 12 Apostles and did the otway tree top walk. Huge numbers of people at the twelve Apostles and even more insects. Got to Otway nice and early to avoid crowds and had it to myself at first. Well worth doing.

Thing about driving down the GOR was that some people seemed more concerned about the views than driving. Cars would cross the lane markings even when going painfully slow. Problem is go too far to the left and you go down to the ocean bonnet first. Go the other way and you say hello to oncoming traffic.
