Flying through the cloud forests of Monteverde
Jun 05, 2006
Im in San Jose now, the capital of Costa Rica staying at Hostel Pangea, by far the best hostel Ive stayed at with pool, bar, bed...Im trying to think of what else you need for a quality stay but no..thats it! Im going to chill tomorrow, maybe its time to watch the new Bond movie and on the 5th Im going to bungee.
Hope all is well, for now,
What a day! Left for the Monteverde Cloud Forests this morning for the sky trek and it was, as you probably have guessed...awesome. While working at camp in the summer nearly all of the kids had been to Costa Rica for holidays and had been on these zip lines. Basically there are 11 zip lines in total of varying lengths, heights and speeds over the tropical forest. We were securely clipped onto the lines (thankfully..as one of the kids from camp in the states wasn´t when he had a crack and only got caught by the safety line apparently...apparently he still has nightmares, but I guess a fall from anything 100m high could get the old ´what ifs´ working overtime!), the highest as mentioned at 100m and the longest being over 350 metres. With the gale force winds blowing you while hanging by 2 pieces of string in the middle of space it was big adrenaline rush and top top action.
