Show trip route
Bellagio Fountains - Epic water fountain display. I don't know where in the world there is one bigger. Nicely choreographed to music. The display is on every half hour during the day or every 15 minutes at night. They have different arrangements of music so it's worth probably watching a couple of shows.
Conservatory at the Bellagio - In Christmas stylie this was a packed attraction. For christmas, this is a room with some ice skating penguins, a nice big tree and some festive decorations
The Fall of Atlantis at Atlantis in the Forum Mall at Caesars. A bit cheesey. Animatronic show on the hour every hour. Caesars Palace on the other hand is a vast hotel/casino and Mall which is very much worth a walk through.
Freemont Street - Very impressive light display overhead. We also spent 15 minutes watching some of the local spray paint artists at work. They quickly spray and scrape to make paintings of very high quality (about $40 each painting - they sell very quickly!).
There are a lot of cheaper Casinos all along Freemont street, serving cheaper drinks (and obviously comp drinks) and much cheaper food than can be found on the strip. We didn't stop in any of them as we just popped to Downtown to take in the overhead show. there is now a zip-line in freemont street which costs about $20 a ride. When we were walking underneath a woman zipped past and then slid about 50 yds back from the finishing platform. She was hanging from the zip line for a few minutes as the crowd gathered below to watch one of the staff rescue her to an applause
Lions at the MGM - We stood and watched the two lions asleep for a while with two of the keepers sat in with the Lions as if they were part of the attraction. The cage is pretty large and it's hard to miss, even considering the size of the MGM. The Lions aren't there post 7pm.
The M&M Store - Pretty overrated. Its an expensive shop selling M&M merchandise over 4 floors. I suppose you gotta take the kids somewhere though.
The Mirage Volcano - We missed this due to timings (only every hour), going to have another look in a couple of days.
How was our day so cheap? We spent some on food, enjoyed the freebies and then hit the slots before going to bed with the idea of getting some comp drinks. Within two minutes of starting to play Kate had won $20, I had not lost any and so we ended up leaving while we were up. We're not here to gamble because the budget isn't there for that. We're here to get a taste and to maybe have a little play around should we have anything spare
It's strange being here in winter as it's so cold you have to find things to do during the day which is what we've been doing. In the spring/summer/autumn I expect you can just laze by the pool all day and then head 'out' a lot later. It's a bit sad walking past the wonderous pool of the Tropicana every day (voted best in Vegas apparently) and it being so cold that the pool is closed.
I would like to come back to Vegas with some savings and a possy of lads from football to enjoy it in true style - Kate says that I will be allowed to. Yey. Probably not this year which is understandable. She'd like to come back too I think, when it is a lot warmer though.
