Many people will question why we have come here indeed, but we took the invaluable advice of Angelos, the man who ran the Hostal we stayed in in Lima, this whole area is a paradise for archelogical sites of great importance and more..... "Chiclayo", itself is quite an industrious city but further north in "Lambayeque" a small town which is surrounded by three major sites of which many treasures have been discovered and salvaged before being stolen by thieves (without nay regard for their countries heritage...).

We wanted to combine both the physical beauty of the country and the history of it{s past as that often is something so many people forget, Machu picchu is the biggest attraction and yet theres so much more further afield. the newest museum here opened in 2002 and disgracefully enough our Rough Guide does not give it more than one line!!! It is a really sate of the art bulding and has had big money invested,5 million USD to house the treasures Of the "Tombs of Lord Sipan", the gold jewellery and decorative crowns etc that were recoverd (before any more could be robbed and pillaged) are now housed here.

Many costums, headgear, death masks and jewellery made mostly of gold with silver and turquoise. Just amazing to see.
