We took and early bus to Jodphur and waved goodbye to Camels and Pushkar, on our arrival to Jodphur we were greeted by a mass of drivers and a lot of conflicting views. We were only here for the day, and wanted to get to the Clock Tower, despite all this informing the drivers they still insist on recommending a Hotel etc (commission for them). Eventually after one guy getting all unfriendly, insisting that Jodphur has a huge market and two clock towers or more, punching two others out (because they charged less) in bid to assert his position we finally got to the one and only clock Tower to meet the guy Martin spoke to on the bus journey. We walked to the Hotel and had a relaxing exchange of travel info with two older Dutch women who'd been around a lot of places in their time in India. Whilst this was going on our Ric shaw driver had been in twice to the Hotel to get his commission and twice he'd been sent away with a flea in his ear!! (they're definitely persistent).

We eventually ventured up to the Fort which is an impressive sight up on the hill, only to be invited into a mans home to see the view of the city from his house, he told us the Fort would be shut and not open till 5pm? (the lying git) Oh and of course would I be interested in getting my hands henna dyed in the traditional Indian manner? So we were off on our way and made it to the Fort and took an audio guide which was excellent and to be recommended as it provides enough interesting and enjoyable information for everyone of all ages, you can even get your palm read as Indian royalty totally believe in the whole ideology of ones fate. The Building is just so diverse in each area and mad of a wide variety of materials, from stone to marble. The view from the top of the fort is amazing as you get to see the "Blue Indigo" homes of the original Brahmin cast, the rest of the city seems to have followed suit and gone for the same colour and so when you see it on masse in the changing light its quite breathe taking indeed.

A great day was spent here and we had an interesting insight to family life through our host for the day, of his perceptions of changing attitudes, particularly in the younger generations as to what is expected of them and all that jazz.
