Once we finally got to Soppong, we caught the local bus to Pai, which was packed full so we all had to stand for the hour bus ride back alog the windy roads. It was especially uncomfortable for me because I was standing between a monk (who it is very frowned upon for a woman to bump into at anytime) and a man who somehow continuously fell into my butt with his hands when we jolted.
We finally got to Pai and headed to look for a guest house. We ended up getting a bungalo with a nice little front porch and a garden. We spent the afternoon washing and soaking all of our dirty caving clothes and laying in the garden in the sun reading (until we realized there were small ants that were crawling on us and biting- then we moved to the porch). After that we took bikes out from the hostel planning to bike to the near by hot springs, which we thought were close, but ended up being farther then we thought. Because I am terrified of biking and Pai is filled with winding blind corners and it was starting to get dark (as we decided to wait until it was cool in the evening before dunking ourselves into smoking hot water) we decided the ride was too far and turned back. Instead we grabbed some dinner downtown and walked the markets and walking streets.
All in all a very relaxing day, our first on this vacation really.
