I flew via Buenos Aires which was beautiful to see from the air at night. I had just enough time to make it through customs, pay the extortionate customs fee and get back onto my plane before we flew again. Arriving in Lima I took a taxi from the airport, this has to be done especially in the night. I had some idea of where I wanted to be but no hostel name yet. The taxi driver recommended somewhere Paititi B&B and I went with that, it was a little expensive but not too bad. I went straight to sleep. On waking up I tried to take a shower to find no hot water was available. So I ventured out to find breakfast. The receptionist told me that breakfast was not included (in a B&B!) but for 5 soles (1 pound) I could have breakfast in ten minutes. I started to realise that I was the only person staying in this hostel. In ten minutes I came back to where I guessed breakfast would be only to be told that there was no-one in the kitchen and breakfast was impossible but that there were nice places nearby. I decided that I needed to find another hostel instead The park

. I found the flying dog it was cheaper, more central with hot water and breakfast included. It was also full of people so chances to go out. It was a friday.

I had already wasted half the day finding the replacement hostel having breakfast and wondering around the area. I wasted the afternoon with lunch and checking my ticket to Mexico was still ok. After all the problems with the rest of my ticket I was not going to trust any airlines. That evening I returned to the hostel to see who I could make friends with. Found two Germans drinking Cubre Libre and as you may know that is my South American drink! (You gotta love Ron) I asked if I could join them that night and they said yes and offered me a drink. Bonus. Soon we were joined by a canadian girl and a half Israli half Mexican who lived in Brazil when he wasn't working on a cruise ship, quite a character. He took us to a few clubs including a beer house (for the germans) there was salsa so dancing was required. And drinking. We got seperted so me and the Canadian ended up going on to a house/ night club where we drank until I couldn't drink more and we went home.

The next day I walked down to the beach and saw the Pacific ocean for the first time (but not the last) I saw the "Parque del amores" (park of lovers) It was good The sea

. I walked along the cliff a way and then back along the beach to a shopping mall built into the cliff. Ate something and then found an arcade where I got to the last boss of Time Crisis 3 and then played puzzle bobble. After I headed home for a siesta. That night met up with the germans again, more cubre libres and then talking until 2 in the morning when we went out to the same shopping mall which was now full of clubs that I hadn't seen before. I went home about five because I knew I had to get up for my plane in the morning.

The next day I was up for breakfast, I checked out and then bought some food, said goodbye to the Germans who were up as well and then headed of to the airport in a taxi. The taxi took ages getting accross town and I only arrived at the airport with an hour to go. Some sort of confusion at the desk (the guy asked me, "Are you just going to Mexico today or are you going to use all your flights now"! held me up even more. I still had to wait at the gate though so I had a chance to relax before getting on the plane.
