Quite a pretty city despite what they told me

The plane ride was interesting it involved three stops at different airports but still not bad at all. The food was not quite BA standards but I got a seat by the exit and had a ton of leg room. I was sat next to a father and son from England so had someone easy to talk to. At the first stop I had to pass through customs this was relatively easy but involved some form filling in. Unfortunately I got caught trying to smuggle oranges (they were part of my lunch, I would have already eaten them except that we were in the air for such a short time and my bag had to be stowed away for take off and landing.) I got a stern telling off but was let off with a warning.
Once in Santiago I just wanted to take the easy option so I took a taxi to a Hostel International and settled in for the night. I watched the TV in the TV room there was a film on and I studied for a bit two. The next morning I was up nice and early and headed into town after breakfast. I had a look around the centre and got some lunch in a little restaurant it was called wraps and it was like fajitas. (Make note of the lunch it will come up again later). The city is quite amazing lots of old and new buildings together, although I had some trouble with my camara, particularly the zoom and focus not working. I was not expecting much because everyone had told me it was nothing special. That chile is expensive and cold and the people are miserable. I found the people to be really friendly. For example, I met a guy who asked me the time and then offered to show me around the city. (I think he fancied me but I didn't ask and we will never know!)
That night I felt really ill I went to bed early without eating dinner. I woke up in the middle of the night and was violently ill. The next day I took it ewasy tried to eat some healthy food and got out into the city only at about 2 in the afternoon. This was in fact the day I met the guy who offered to show me the city, he recommended a healthy restaurant and I felt much better. That night I was suposed to meet a friend of a friend in a tube satation near to my hostel I went with a friend I had made in the hostel and waited for 30mins but no show. After I left the tube station I saw another entrance to the same station and I realised that it was a stupid place to try to meet someone because it was huge.
Went out for a quick drink and another cerviche (raw fish dish) with my friend and then another early night. The next morning I got the bus to Buenos Aires. I didn't really spend enough time there to get a feel for the city and certainly not a feel for the country but what I saw I liked. It certainly wasn't special but not awful and I would have been happy to stay longer. One week before I arrived Muse were playing and just two days after I left there was a ska and punk festival so I would have been really happy. Anyway, next stop Argentina. More thumbnails ...
