DEUTSCH AM ENDE

_________________

We woke up at 4.30am as you always do on Xmas day to go and see the sun rise over Angkor Wat. This was our Xmas present and what a present it was.

We rode in the tuk tuk in the dark and were very excited as we arrived at Angkor Wat. The moon was shinnig and was really our only source of light at we crossed the bridge into the main gates of the this immense temple - the biggest religious builing in the world. It was quite erie as it was so dark and you just hear the sounds of the jungle around us and the bats echoing through the massive and dark temple halls. We headed to the garden and awaited the sunrise. As the sun came out and all got lighter it was truly amazing to get site of the temple. A really memorable moment.

We spent much of the morning in Angkor Wat and then visted some smaller temples, had lunch at what was now our local restaurant and then headed back to the hotel about 3pm.

We then grabbed our swim things and popped next door to a big posh hotel where we could use the pool for a small fee. Now the good thing about this hotel was that it was brand new and seemed to be hardly any guests which meant that we had the whole swimming pool/with massage jets to ourself. We forgot to tell them that we were smelly backpackers with no money but just enjoyed some luxury for Xmas.

That evening we had a lovely meal, I nearly had Turkey but knew it couldn't beat my mum's so ate fish with mashed potatoes and green beans and Daniel basically had a plate full of meat - he was very happy. Plus we enjoyed some cold beers.

After dinner we has some lovely calls home and despite missing our families were extremely happy after an absolutely brilliant Xmas Day.
