Today was always going to be an emotional day but maybe we never realised just how emotional. For the last 7 weeks we have been living węth Mum and Dad and it was good to spend time with them and on the whole things were very good (or at least they were for us). With the amount of things we had to sort before we left, there was always going to be an element of stress and tension.
We enjoyed a meal oput with mum and dad last night but this morning at 6.30 I began to regret the 6th pint of Abbots Ale. Nerves, lack of sleep and Abbots Ale all began to kick in at once - and my stomach certainly made it clear it was not happy.
On the way to the airport I spoke to Harriet on the phone to say bon voyage and that was when the emotions kicked in. I was unable to say goodbye and had to pass the phone to Nic. Nic spoke to Harriet and then to Sam and she too started crying.
We finally got to the airport and said goodbye to Mum and Dad. This was very tough. It was absolutely pouring węth rain and the tears added to the wetness.
Unbelievably in the airport one of the first people we saw was Katie Plummer. And she just happened to be flying to Marmaris with some of her friends - what are the chances of that happening?
Anyway, once we got on the plane Nic and I got very emotional again. I kept looking out of the window and thinking 'all that worry, all that stress, is now over. We are now doing what we have been planning for so long'.
Ok so we are flying to Turkey on a 2 week package deal but this is the start of it all * from here we know not where we will go.
Ichmeler is ok - it is like Tenerife, it is like Tunisia - it is like any English focused resort abroad. The hotel is perfectly fine, with decent food and it is clean. This place will give us exactly what we want - 2 weeks of relaxation and rest. In a couple of weeks time our batteries will be recharged and off we go to who knows where.
