I thought this was cool when my cousin Barbs did it, so figured I would too. My trip isn't exotic like hers was, however it could prove to be entertaining!
I left home at a nice and early 6:15am, arrived at the airport with no drama. I did remember to pay to park this time, you dint know how much stress and aggravation that cuts out of a trip!
The pane was completely packed(joy), and just as we got up into the air.... there was this alarm type sound that started to go off. I would put this sound int eh top 5 noises you do not want to hear when your airplane takes off!! The guy next to me looks at me ( like I am going to know what the noise is?!). He was like "that isn't a good noise", I said "no, not at all". I kind of figured maybe the lavatory smoke detector went off by mistake. In any case, it stopped after a few, and the rest of the flight was quite uneventful. ( always a good thing!)
Was amazingly smooth ride, quite surprising to me as there was a tropical storm between us and Florida. Landed in Miami... Straight away saw Douglas Mello... was pretty surprised. Then his wife Kendra walked up and I realized, ohhh this is the lady that was nice enough to let me out of my row on the plane!! (was focused on getting off the plane)
For anyone that has a shy bladder.... the Miami International Airport is not for you! All I can say, is pee on the plane before you land!!
Miami to Orlando flight was looking good, two empty seats next to me, I was getting thrilled, everyone appeared to be on the plane, and then of course late people.... I HATE late people!!! So another sardine flight, at least it was only 33 minutes long! Another pleasant flight. Was able to get luggage and rental car, and found the way to the resort with no problem.
The resort is huge! 1400 acres. The lobby for check in was like Times Square. People everywhere, noisy, people handing out popcorn and pizza, and Mardi Gras beads. Checked in, of course got the reservation for another timeshare sales pitch!! I did tell her upfront there would be no buying!! But we will get 40$ worth of on site food, and deep discounts on the park tickets, so will be an hour well spent I guess.
Found our room........ WOW!!!!!! 5th Floor, 3 bdrm condo!! A M A Z I N G!!!! It truly is beautiful! The property is Orange Lake Resort. It has everything known to man here!! 7 restaurants on site, 7 pools, a water park with a lazy river!!, bowling alley, movie theater, an 80 acre lake for water skiing, jet skiing and wake boarding(I'm all over that!!! NOT!!), 3 golf courses, and 72 holes of mini golf! The activities list changes each day and is jammed packed with all kinds of things to do, They show three different movies a day, there is scuba lessons, pool parties, sunset dinners, boat cruises...the list goes on!
I had arrived about 3:30, Donna, Robert and the girls about 530. After we dropped their rental car off, and settled in a bit, we headed out for dinner. Our first night to dinner we went to Long Horn's Steak House. Was like a meat locker! Donna and the girls were freezing!! Service was great, food was good. Nola finished hers and was like, "I'm ready to go" so Donna was trying to explain we were a group etc... So I said " yes, like on ice age, we are a Herd!!" so that has kind of stuck, so now we are loving known as the Herd... lol. After dinner was Target shopping for essentials and some non essentials. then back to the resort.
For those that do not know... I am calling this my "Bumped my head trip" because my best friend Donna had said she wanted to take her two girls to Disney. Me being the wonderful, kind, selfless person I am ( yeah I typed that because I know she will read this!!) said to her, " Oh, I should go with you and we could stay at the time share......blah blah blah..." WELLLLL what was I thinking?? Everyone I am sure will be thinking the kids were the worst part of this Bump My Head bit, but not really.... it was the fact it was Disney, in August!!!! I will say... its bloody HOT!!!!!! The girls aren't bad ( yes again because I know Donna is going to read this...LOL... Kidding D!!) they really aren't. Nola is being very good, and Ayva is 5... and is being a 5 year old and to be expected. But for the most part she too is being very good... yes it is only day 3 as I type this.... lol... I will be keeping my fingers crossed!!
