Where I stayed
Olympic National Park
"We wander for distraction, but we travel for fulfillment." -unknown
On our way up the coast, we hit the 2000 mile mark of our trip, marking about halfway through. We enjoyed the last of the gorgeous coastal view as we began to head inland to Olympic National Park. We stopped on the southern side of Olympic for lunch at Lake Quinault, a large mountain lake. Since there were no roads further into the park, we headed west to go around Olympic so we could enter from the north. On our drive west, we decided to go back out to the coast one last time. We stopped at Ruby Beach where Elliott was finally able to climb the rocks as much as he wanted, Jared took some amazing pictures, and Sarah found a wild shrimp while she worried about the boys plans to swim out through the huge waves to a rock outcropping. We all enjoyed some rock skipping contests to end our final views of the Pacific coast. We ended the day at a campground in Olympic National Park with a delicious dinner prepped by Elliott and Sarah. Followed by s’mores for all!
