Leh, at a breathless 3505 meters high, is the capital of the province of Ladakh which separates the Indus Valley from Tibet and Kashmir from Himachal Pradesh with sheer walls of rock and ice. For most of the year its cut off from the outside world by the snow that covers the passes, making them impassable. This isolation has helped to Leh

preserve the peoples medieval way of life and the last undisturbed Tantric Buddist populations on earth. I had a rather drunken night with some Ozzies I met in the only bar in town, the locals could not believe how much they could drink, although I mist admit, we did have Leh

a few. I had wonder around the town, stocked up on a few spare parts for the bike and fixing a few minor problems and also watched a festival one morning. Im not exactly sure what it was about but it was fun to watch and there were all sorts of things going on from dancing to the army showing how their dogs could Leh

sniff out explosives underground, this was impressive and so was the discipline of the dogs. I then used Leh as a base to explore the nearby things to see.
