Although I have called this entry the Tran siberian Railway, technically Im not going the full length of it as Im cutting off before Vladivostok at Ulan Ude then heading South through Mongolia, across the Gobi desert and down to Bejing. So this is just the first leg of a 7,621 km (4,735 mile) train journey. (or it would more really as I started on the train from Kuopio in Finland)
The first day wasnt to bad but the second, the smell did really start to kick up and the Russians were relentlessly asking to me to drink with them, I was a bit wiery though as I heard lots of stories of people who had drunk with the russians who had waken up with no money or clothes, and I now know why every one had told me to go 2nd or 1st class rather than 3rd. But to be honest, it was all good fun and I enjoyed being amounst it and it was fine as long as you didnt get to drunk and kept your wits about you.
The two other guys who I met in Moscow in the hostel did not have such a good experience and were supose to be on it for the next 7 days all the way to Mongolia. I think where they went wrong was not being firm woth the Russians room the minute they got on, they seemed to get alot of hassle and asked if they could get off with me as they were sure they were going to get robbed, this was fine with me as it meant someone to head to Kungur with, so thats what they did.
