Where I stayed
Residence Inn Marriot Irving
As I looked around our hotel room it suddenly hit me that we were in America, how cool is that!!!! The next thing that hit us was Holly’s eye was looking unnaturally swollen. We had our flight to Trinidad that left at 11am, so we had plenty of time to sort it out. We took a taxi straight to CareNow and thought HT would get seen straight away, after an hour wait she finally got led in. Turns out her eye was infected and needed an injection, which they didn’t have. We had to go to the pharmacist (15 minutes away) get the injection, bring it back for it to be administered and then of to the airport. We needed to go the pharmacist as well to pick up some more drugs for HT’s eye. We rushed around and legged it to the airport. We begged and pleaded, as our flight was still 30 minutes away from taking off, but it was all over, we had missed our flight. The somewhat kind lady rebooked the flight for the next day. Extremely frustrated and very annoyed we rebooked a hotel for the night and headed back home.
Mike greeted us at the Resident’s at Marriot in Dallas and took care of us like he was our father. He was a lovely man who upgraded our room to the highest level and did everything he could to make our stay lovely. We decided to train it into Dallas to check out the city, unfortunately we made somewhat of a bad choice as we walked around the city that felt sort of like Bunbury. There were buildings, but it felt like nothing was going on. We finally got home with the help of Eva, an 50-year-old woman who lived by herself and waited with us after dark till our taxi came, our very own guardian angel. The day was not winning, but it was hard to be down when it was only day 2 of 4 months.
