"When it rains it pours!" is an expression I took to heart only last Monday. The streambed we cycled for 40 kms over the Polish/Czech mountain border matured into class V rapids. Three weeks, no rain, and then "Noah-way! I don't even get this wet in the shower!" Our attitude toward the deluge evolved in stages, "rain; really raining; I'm wet through my raincoat; hey, were cycling through a foot of water; I've never seen so much rain; wow more fire trucks- lights flashing-sirens wailing- racing towards the flood (is there a joke in there?!?), look at those volunteer sandbag brigades, look at all those trees washing down the river, is that a body? We soon forgot about the rain and wanted to see blood, nothing fun about weather until there's a "catastrophe".
