We rolled into Görlitz on the German/Polish border two hours late (as if we had a schedule) after a gauntlet of construction detours, however, the scenery of abandoned industry, broken glass, and highway overpasses was charming. Our clocking our first 1000 kms mitigated our disgruntled mood with "the bike-path-people"; however, the last thing we expected to cheer our spirits was a free contemporary street-performance circus festival. The evenings highlights include, burlesque Swan Lake with hula-hoops, Walter the too-excitable stage manager, and the incessant singing guy who really wanted to be in the festival, but wasn't. Before rolling out of town the following day, one of the performers gave me my first and perhaps last accordion lesson.
