Today was the day that the children came back to school. I have been looking forward to it because the place has seemed empty without them! Think it is the only time i have ever looked forward to the beginning of term!  And Banuka is back who missed the whole of the Sportsday week. It is also good because I get fed regular cups of tea by Parody and Gourie, which gets me through the day!

I think because it was the first day and because of Poya yesterday- a Buddhist religious holiday- there were a few of them away at religious sites, there was only 17 preschoolers and about  half the normal number of after schoolers.
The day started off badly- no power and quickly got worse when throughout the whole if Hambantota the only bread to be found for breakfast was in our freezer. Unfortunately, this was not enough to feed 17 hungry children, so Parody improvised with crackers and bananas! Also today I was asked to draw 8 pictures for some of the children to paint! Now I am no artist but I think my pictures were brilliant!
The afternoon club had their 'creative' day today, which involved them coming up to act out a situation that the teacher told them to. There were a few hilarious acting outs of a 3 wheeler Driver (probably ripping someone off), vegetable sellers and other things. One of the teachers did one, and half way through I heard my name mentioned and all the kids stared at me, then laughed! But to this moment I have no idea what she said!
