This weekend it was Kerry (my cousin) and Damian's wedding up in Emley, a small village in Yorkshire near Wakefield and Huddersfield.
We drove up on the Saturday, and met up with most of the extended family at Craig and David's cricket match, then went to my Aunty Jeanette's place for dinner, which consisted of the worlds biggest pizza.
I had never been to a wedding before, so I was hoping that I wasn't going to bring bad luck...fortunately though the wedding day was perfect - it was nice and warm and the sun shined all day (Glynis and Brodie - I'll do my best to provide the same for yours!). After a quick beer in the conveniently located pub across the road, we headed over to the church. It's a very old building, dating from around the 14th or 15th century, but apparently some parts of it are from around the 12th/13th century...much older than any churches in New Zealand
After the photos outside the church, we had a couple of hours to make it to the Waterton Hotel for the reception while the photos were taken. I thought the hotel was a really nice old building - and it was on it's own island! How cool is that!? After a few group photos, we had our meal upstairs. There was about 88 people there to witness the speeches, which at times were quite funny and emotional, but importantly none were too long or short, and they were all entertaining! Mum, Dad and I even got presented with a framed photo for having travelled the furthest (around 11,250 miles) to be there! I thought that was a really nice touch, and made me feel special. Awwww.
After a really nice meal, everyone went downstairs for some (read: a lot of) drinks and dancing.
We returned to London the next day, having had a really good weekend away, one which I'll remember for a long time!
