Today it was over to the Isle of Man for the Tourist Trophy races, something which I've wanted to go to for a long time.

I began with an early-ish morning, then beginning the drive up to Heysham, a bit north of Liverpool, where I was to catch the Ferry. Mum and Nan were off to spend a few nights up north somewhere (which ended up being at Morecambe) and dropped me off at Heysham on the way. The closer we got to Heysham, the more bikes we started to see

After lunch at a pub called the Duke of Rothesay, I went down to the ferry terminal...only to discover I was 2 minutes late checking in - despite being there earlier than what the ticket and Steam Packet website said...
As one can imagine this was rather annoying, as despite being able to catch the next ferry which left 30 minutes later, I was now going to be boarded on the slow boat, meaning I'd arrive at Douglas a couple of hours later.

Lesson learned (the hard way) : It's better to be an hour early, than one minute late.

I met Sam (who I was staying with) at the terminal, and she took me back to her house on the outskirts of Douglas where I met her husband Chris and two of their friends. That evening we went down to some pubs near the waterfront where I tried some of the local brew, O'kells. Considering I normally drink lager, this was pretty good. It was a good evening out, and Chris and Sam were very kind and gave me dinner and bought me some beers too.

Eventually I hit the hay at about 1:30, and I was asleep before my head hit the pillow as I was that knackered.
