Will update later just goona add videos of our bungy jumps just now. Awesome time had by both of us and highly reccomend it to anyone in NZ. I can only but apoligise for the course language you may hear watching these videos but under the circumstances i do believe we should be forgiven. Hope you enjoy and let us know what you think.

So here is the update!!

you all enjoyed the canyonswing video's! I am now attempting to
catch up on our New zealand departure and from there we will keep
updated on our final 7 wks of our trip.

last couple of weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind! We had our last
days at work, which was very sad for me, i have loved working in
Neurosurgery and have learned a massive amount that i'm sure will
help me in the future. I have also made a lot of friends that i am
really going to miss. When you don't have family and friends around,
you tend to rely on other people and workmates have been great at
helping out, both outside of work and in. I have to say though, my
last day at work was great fun, and my lovely Neuro team chucked me
in the shower, so i went home smelling of wet dog!

and i both had a night out to celebrate with our workmates and had a
great time, unfortunately suffered the next day. Although we haven't
been out a great deal, the Christchurch night life is pretty great!

also completed our first 10km run, which was actually good fun, and
proves we are a lot fitter than when we first got here. We didn't
train much in the two weeks before as both had sore knees but Mark
managed a time of 1.13.52, and i did it in 1.10.10 so we were quite
pleased with ourselves. I also managed to run all the way which was
my main goal but i'm sure there was people walking faster than me!!
Oh well, it was a personal achievement!!

we were all finished work and ready for our trip down to Queenstown.
We flew down on the Thursday and were at the same gate as the French
rugby team, they were playing the All Blacks in Dunedin on Saturday
(France won!). We were right next to them and i got a picture of
Sebastian Cheba! Was very happy! He is massive!

we made in to Queenstown, it is very much a ski-ing town with all its
snowboardy type people (if you now what i mean!). Very expensive!
But very pretty, set inbetween mountains. We went up the gondola and
a very stunning view from the top, where you can race in little
go-carts to the bottom, we had great fun!!

the Friday, we went to the canyonswing! I don't have to explain much
as the video's say it all! Mark was very calm and brave and decided
to go first, he was actually really nervous but his video doesn't
show it! He just went and did it! he told me afterwards that he felt
being a guy, he had to be macho!! But he declined the offer of doing
a second jump as they were trying to persuade him to go backwards (no
chance!). I had decided that i wanted to do it lying back, but they
talked me into doing 2 jumps (the 2nd one cost $10!).
They persuaded me to do one where i had to throw myself off instead
of being released, this definitely proved more a challenge for me,
everything in your body is screaming at you not to do it and you have
to override your head and your sense of sanity and just jump! Well i
eventually made it over the edge and it was the strangest thing, for
a fraction of a second you feel frozen in mid air then u just fall
and the next 3 seconds you think you are going to die then next thing
you are enjoying the view at the bottom of the canyon, an amazing

really enjoyed my second jump and decided to get the video of that
one, but Mark persuaded me to get the first video too, as he thought
it was funnier (which it probably is!).

we survived the canyonswing, and had to make our way back to
Christchurch, easier said than done!! Arriving for our flight, we
knew that some flight were canceled due to fog but checking on the
internet and phoning the airport, we were told our flight would be
going, but unfortunately they canceled it once we arrived at the
airport, charming!! The told us it was too foggy and the forecast
was the same the next day so it wasn't looking good until probably
Monday. We were due out of our flat on Monday and our flight to
Fiji, was at 8am Mon morning! The didn't give us any alternative but
to wait until the plane could take off, which didn't help our
situation!! Our only plan was to see if we could hire a car, but
they were all charging stupid money, but we eventually managed to get
the last car Thrifty had which wasn't exactly cheap but we didn't
have much option! So off we went at 5pm, and it took us 7 hrs to get
back to Chch, driving through the worst conditions i have ever seen,
but we made it!!

had a mega busy Sunday, clearing out the flat (amazing how much junk
you can collect in 7 months!!) and packing our bags. So we are now
ready for our journey home, and definitely ready for a nice bit of
sunbathng on a pacific island!!

you are all enjoying the British summer, i hear it has been pretty
good so far!

& Mhairi xxx
