The New Delhi section of town has a more modern, cleaner and more open flavor than old Delhi.  The streets are wider as one expects, making it easier to get around.  There are plenty of open-air Bazaar's and markets.  However, it is amazingly hard to find a computer cafe that has a sound card or webcam so I can use Skype VOIP.

Maria and I visited a couple of friends of hers that are doing volunteer work in this area.  The visit was short though because, guess what, it was Marias turn to start feeling sick again.  Nothing serious......she just needed rest.

We did some tourning of a Bahai temple and a couple of other sites.  Friday evening I took Maria to the airport.  It was hard to say goodbye.....we had such a fun time together.  It was wonderful travelling together Another Sikh Temple

.  She is so fun to travel with and has such a positive attitude and was quite adaptable and tolerant to the inconveniences that arise (like a broken shoulder!).

The next day I went to a couple of Sikh temples and the Mahatma Gandhi memorial.  My first visit to Sikh temples, I found the people there very friendly, accepting and welcoming to all visitors.  The airport taxi driver from the night before took me there in exchange for my visiting some tourist shops where he gets commision for each tourist he brings in.  This man was a very devote Sikh and very friendly, kind and gentle natured.  I really enjoyed my time with him

Onto a train I jumped right after that to travel overnight to the Nepal border.  Traffic was madness around the train station and I just made the train by 7 minutes.  Whew!  The train trip ended at Gorakhpur wich is a 2 hour bus ride to the Nepal border.  Well, not exactly a bus, it was a shared taxi.  Well, not exactly a shared taxi, it was a jeep loaded to the gills with people and all the luggage strapped to the top.  Things are quite remote here and getting more so by the minute.  So many amazing sites.....the wheat fields, the oxen pulling a plow blade with a man standing atop it to weigh it in, monkeys swinging from trees,  Women transporting crops in big baskets atop their heads.  Hard working people.  Wonderful people.
