After saying goodbye to Brisbane and of course Hamish the dog, I was off on my way to Byron Bay and a visit with Kim Ward. She stays just North of Byron in Mullumbimby (yes, that's really its name!)
After getting sorted out in the house, it was time to head into Byron Bay for a wander, some food and of course a few light refreshments! Byron is a beaufiful place, very relaxed and open with a stunning beach on its doorstep. Live music pours from pretty much every bar so we made sure after a meal at new restaurant 'Why Not?' we took in as many of the pubs and bands as we could.
After a good nights sleep - despite the mother of all electrical storms with tropical rain thrown in - Friday was a stunning day, so it was definitely beach time! We headed out of town to 'White's Beach,' just South of Byron, a long trek uphill in the car and then downhill on foot... When we got there I realised that it was all worth it - simply one of the most stunning beaches I've ever been on with sheltered coves, golden sand, cool water and a cloudless sky Lil' Kim!
Lil' Kim!
! Swimming, sunbathing and reading were the order of the day. I even managed my first 'body surf' moment - catching a wave and letting it wash me into shore about 25 metres away - quite a ride! Maybe I'll give this full surfing thing a go after all!
Saturday turned out to be almost as stunning, so I took myself into Byron for a tourist wander and internet access (well, hadn't checked email for a few days - important stuff!)

Sunday was just as beautiful and a chance to enjoy the beach one last time and a final wander around Byron before having to head away from this beach paradise... I took some time to myself later on that day to think about Wendy. My sister would have been 29 years old today and I know that my Mum, Dad, Louise and so many other family and friends will have struggled with today as much as I did. In the end I walked along the beach thinking about how much Wendy enjoyed life and gave so much of herself in everything and to everyone. We all miss her so much, but remembering the good times we've all shared and thinking about her as I wandered in the moonlight.
Phone calls to Mum and Dad kept us in contact, but I know we're all looking forward to being together again in December!

Monday arrived far too quickly so I said my goodbye's to Kim, her Mum and Pete and headed South towards Sydney...
