Bunbury wasn't really the party-place we'd thought it might be (what DID we expect on a Wednesday nite in a place the size of Stonehaven?) but a good drinking session was had by all, after a brief pool competition (we did manage to keep the white on the table most of the time!) and a fine Chinese meal in the town centre.
We'd booked ourselves into the Wander Inn Backpackers Hostel - $25 a nite and free beer, internet and chocolate cake!
The road took us to Busselton after booking in - down to see the longest timber jetty in the Southern Hemisphere and then we decided we just couldn't pass a crazy golf place without heading in for a competitive round... What started well quickly degraded and ended in muttering, poor sportsmanship and the occasional bad word!
Back to Bunbury for the nite out!
We started with cheap beer at the Burlington Hotel and some silky pool skills while Salsa dancing lessons were given in the next room (we weren't tempted to join in!)
From there we went to the 'party place' - Three Monkeys - and more cheap beer and cheaper entertainment...
We ended the nite in The Lord Forrest Hotel and 'Scott's Bar.' Quiet ending was much appreciated, and even better it was close to the Backpackers for our drunken walk home!
Morning took us out for breakfast and then to the Dolphin Observatory. No sign of the blighters, but a cool place with loads of information!
Dougal was driver for the road back - managed to get us back ok (Jason and I both passed out after the excesses of the trip!) and the car seemed to be in one piece! Just have to wait and see how many speeding tickets he's got me...
