Time is once again flying by and it's ages since Mum and Dad were here although it only seems like a few days ago.
Our touch rugby season has started again with Social Sports at UWA. Moto has been reformed with some new members and fancy new shirts (photographs to follow!) but sadly the success of last year hasn't yet been realised... 4 games and 4 losses so far, but we're definitely getting better, and more importantly we're all enjoying it! I've even taken up refereeing some games as well - not the easiest thing, although I do like the feeling of power. Heh, heh, heh... Even get a bit of cash from UWA for doing it as well - about $20 per game, so more beer money as well!
Anyway, as the title to this entry suggests, I've started running with a goal in mind - not quite the marathon level that Sophie's aiming for in July, but the Perth Half Marathon at the end of June
21.1km - something that'd probably knacker me if I had to cycle it, so training will definitely be required. I've started building up the distance already, with 15km runs round the river with Soph and more recently a 16km run around the lakes near the house. Sunday was the 'Bridges 10km Run' and despite having been out the night before for Phoebe's 21st Birthday party (a fantastic night with beers at the Balmoral pub in Vic Park, followed by mexican food and silly amounts of tequila in Pancho Villa's with a final round or 7 back in the Balmoral getting me home in the wee small hours of the morning...) I managed to drag my ageing body out of bed and off to the start line. I had a feeling that I'd struggle to get to the 1km mark, let alone the finish line, but off I went and somehow managed to finish the run (by my watch) in 41 minutes 30 seconds... Really, really pleased with that, and looking forward to the next run (8km Gallipoli rememberance run in Kings Park at the end of April) - maybe this time I'll avoid the drunken session the night before... Hmmm...
Having completed that, made it back to the office and showered / changed, Shopie was there to drive us out to the Perth Hills and Kalamunda, for a morning of abseiling with Darren, Jenn, Dale and Kylie
The results for the Bridges 10km run finally came out and although it has me at 5 seconds slower than my watch was telling me, 41 minutes 35 seconds is still a damn good time for an old bloke like me, eh?

Hoping for a quiet weekend after all the exertions of last week, but I've been asked down to Cottesloe Rubgy Club to watch the 3rds play and maybe even get a bit of a game myself. Will see how it goes - wonder how my body would cope... Hmmm...
More to follow if I survive.
PS I realise that week by week this becomes less of a Travel Blog and more of a 'Dear Diary...' but never fear, I'm not going to expound my innermost fears and feelings - and there'll be plenty more travels to write about, with trips coming up to Melbourne, Noosa, Adelaide, Brisbane and back to the UK in July... Maybe even gonna try and fit in a trip to Singapore and Dubai along the way.
No rest for the wicked, eh? :o)

. We had an absolute blast as I'm sure the photos show. It'd been about 15 years (maybe more!) since I last threw myself off of a cliff and was really pleased to find I remembered most of it - even managed to get in one rock climb as well. A really enjoyable day was finished off with beers and food at the Kalamunda Hotel before we headed home and I passed out... Old age is a terrible thing! The results for the Bridges 10km run finally came out and although it has me at 5 seconds slower than my watch was telling me, 41 minutes 35 seconds is still a damn good time for an old bloke like me, eh?
